About the Cover

Cover Figure

On the cover, lysosomes from human fibroblasts visualized by confocal-immunofluorescence microscopy showing Lysosomal-associated membrane protein 1 in lysosomal membranes (green), rhodamine-dextran in the lysosomal lumen (red), and the DAPI-stained nucleus (blue). Lysosomes are complex organelles that are critical for normal cell function, yet their protein composition is poorly understood. A proteomic survey of an integral-membrane protein fraction from rat liver lysosomes makes the picture clearer. For details, see the article by Bagshaw et al., pages 133–143.
