On the cover, the in situ proximity ligation assay offers highly specific detection through the requirement for dual recognition and increased sensitivity via a localized DNA amplification reaction. In this paper we have used secondary proximity probes, suitable to detect proximal binding by pairs of mouse and rabbit antibodies, to visualize phosphorylation of platelet-derived growth factor receptor β in cells and tissues at single molecule resolution. For details, see the article by Jarvius et al., pages 1500–1509.
