Non-Member FAQ

  1. Will I receive a password? May I share my password with friends, or is use limited solely to me?

You will create a user name and password during the subscription activation process. You are the only one licensed to use this login information. You may not share your user name or password with colleagues, lab members or students. Your user name and password are for your personal use only. If others need access, the institution should purchase an institutional subscription.

  2. What if I forget my password?

Go to Forgot password and enter either your user name or your customer number. A temporary password will be emailed to you.

  3. Why should I get an Individual (Non-Member) subscription?
Individual (Non-Member) Subscribers have access to:
Tables of contents, abstracts, full text searching, full text display, document delivery, PDFs, links to Medline and GenBank, future tables of contents, and the advantage of having password access to MCP Online from any computer connected to the Internet.
    [Ordering Procedure][Cost][ ASBMB Membership ]

Without a subscription you have access to Tables of contents, abstracts, and full text searching at no cost and without having to register.

  4. How can I tell if my institution has subscribed? How do I get my institution to subscribe?

If your institution has a subscription, you will automatically have access to the tables of contents, abstracts, full-text searching, full text display, PDFs, Medline and GenBank links and future tables of contents. You will also see your institution name at the top of the page confirming you're signed in as part of an institution.

If your institution has not subscribed and you would like to have an institutional subscription, please contact your librarian or serials ordering agent.

  5. Can I get the paper version?

No, as of January 2010 MCP is published online only. The journal is no longer available in print.

  6. Who is eligible for an Individual (Non-Member) and a Member Subscription?

Individual (Non-Member) subscriptions are available to all individuals, for their personal use only. ASBMB Members receive a free subscription to MCP Online as a benefit of membership. Members and Non-Members may also have access to MCP Online through an Institutional Subscription.

  7. How can I access MCP Online if I am not an ASBMB member and I don't have access through an institutional subscription?

You may wish to apply for ASBMB membership or subscribe as an individual non-member. (Without a subscription you have access to Tables of contents, abstracts, and full text searching at no cost and without having to register.)

  8. How do I become a member of ASBMB?

Information about ASBMB Membership and application forms are available from the ASBMB website.
