On the cover, an artistic rendition of the nuclear pore complex (NPC) in a cross-section
that highlights the filamentous, natively unfolded domains of its nucleoporins (NPC
proteins). Their highly dynamic and unstructured domains are evolving at an accelerated
pace despite their critical function as gatekeepers of nucleo-cytoplasmic transport.
